Des Turner OAM

Des Turner has today been named in the Queens Birthday Honors  List having been awarded an Order of Australia Medal for service to the game of Snooker in Australia.

For over 30 years, Des has been giving his time freely for many aspects of our sport, most notably as the referee coordinator for the QBSA and as a passionate organiser for the sport in the Northern Rivers district of NSW.

Last year Des was afforded life membership of the QBSA and it is fitting that the OAM should follow.

Des, all in the sport appreciate your input and time given, particularly the organising of referees at tournament time. At times it seems you are like a ferret in the QBSA trousers but that is to our benefit and the Management Committee truly appreciate you diligent service.

A special mention must be made of the patience and support Beverly has given Des, our sport is riddled with snooker widows, Beverly (now Beverly Turner MT an OAM) you wrote the book and we in the sport are grateful for your contribution.

Congratulations Des Turner OAM LM
