Stephen Burford has successfully defended his Qld Residents Billiards Championship with a win against Chee Yap in the 3 hour final.

Chee lead at half time, but Stephen powered away and recorded two breaks in the second session of 123 and 83 to win 673 to 471.

As Tournament Director and on behalf of the QBSA, I would like to give a big thank you to Redlands Billiards and Snooker Club as well as Redlands Services Club for hosting our event for the weekend. The event was well supported and at times we had four QBSA life members in attendance.

The tables played very well, with at least 15 breaks over 50 and the standard of a lot of the games were of a high standard.

I would also like to thank all the referees for their commitment, both to those who refereed on Saturday and Sunday. I would like to give a special mention to Trevor Mortimer, who both played in the event, made the Quarter Finals and was willing to referee if we needed a referee whilst still playing in the event. Refereeing a full game whilst still playing in the event is not an easy task and so we all should say thank you to Trevor for his assistance.

Trevor did an excellent job as referee of the final and so I say thank you.

On behalf of the QBSA, thank you to all involved and hopefully see a large turnout at the next billiards weekend event, 2018 Qld Minors Championship. 27/28 October at Sherwood Services Club.

    Garvin Gray
    Tournament Director
