The dates for this event are January 30th-31st 2016, to be held at the Tattersall’s Club, Brisbane City.
The QB&SA and Tattersall’s Club Brisbane have joined in an understanding to hold an annual event at the Tattersalls snooker club facility in January each year.
The 2016 Qld 6 Reds Draw FriSat is available here for the Friday and Saturday matches.
We have an excellent field of 32 players and look forward to enjoying the hospitality of our hosts this year, the Tattersall’s Club of Brisbane.
The 2016 Tattersall’s Queensland 6 Reds Championship has completed and we congratulate Ben Farnworth on his victory.
Ben overcame the Number one seed in Daniell Haenga 5 frames to 2, it was a tight match and both players showed their skills that had them ranked 1 and 2.
It was also pleasing to see the losing players stay at the club to support the tournament and the finalists, This does not always happen and it does give our hosts, the TD and his referees and the MC a boost.
Great work by our Tournament Director Chee Yap, he created the field of 32 and ran the tournament like clockwork, its not easy for Chee to be there early each day as he always up late with his Matchroom commitments. Trevor Mortimer and Treston Urwin need mention as they were present from start to finish each day.
There is no doubt that the Tattersall’s club received a tripple plus rating from all the competitors, supporters and officials that attended the weekend. Nothing was too much trouble for the club in hosting this event and with the support of Michael Needham and his snooker club, we were able to hold a very successful tournament while enjoying their hospitality.
Special thanks to Matthew and Katie from events management at Tattersall’s, Margaret and Johnny who looked after our refreshment needs and the members who supported the tournament and gave up their tables for the weekend. Lets also recognise the behind the scenes work of the kitchen and breakfast staff in the excellent food we were able to enjoy.
Progressive results were posted to the forum each day, a complete draw summary will be available here shortly
What a great day 1 we have had at Tattersall’s Club. Well supported with between 40-60 people in the club at any one time, enjoying the fantastic facilities and the Tattersall’s hospitality.
Sunday’s quarter finals are as follows
Daniell Haenga v Jacky Chen
Danik Lucas v Adam Waller
Paul Asher v Sam Kairouz
Trevor Mortimer v Ben Farnworth

It is envisaged that this event will be run as a lead in tournament to the Dr Clem Jones AO Qld Open Snooker Championships. With Australia Day holiday being celebrated on the 26th January each year, there will be times when the mid week days lend themselves to having consecutive weekends of snooker, 10 days of snooker while enjoying Queensland’s ‘ideal one day, perfect the next’ hospitality.
While this years 6 Reds Snooker will be held the weekend after the Queensland Open Snooker, in future years it will be the weekend preceding. The 2016 6 Reds will be a Queensland residents only tournament which will change to an Open event from 2017 onwards when a Qld residents 6 Reds, for the purpose of qualifying for for the National 6 reds and onwards, will be held on another date.
Some points of interest about this years event are:
- Dress regulations for supporters and guests at the event will be smart casual,
- gentlemen: closed dress shoes, socks, trousers, collared long sleeve shirt. Ties and Jackets NOT required
- ladies will be of similar standard
- NO open footwear (men) or runners, NO jeans, NO t-shirts or singlets (only), NO thongs, NO shorts, NO baseball caps
- Parking is available through the club at $10/day at the David Jones and Wintergarden car parks
- There will be a welcome function on Friday night where drinks and nibbles will be available from 6-8pm, the tables will also be available for practice etc. An opportunity to make it a city social outing.
