A Report for the
2016 Annual General Meeting 31st March, PCYC Club Milton

The 2016 AGM for the QB&SA Inc. was held on the 31st March at the PCYC Club in Milton

The meeting was chaired by the current President John Osterman and current Committee members present were David Cooper (Treasurer) and Trevor Mortimer. Apologies from current committee member were Chee Yap (overseas) and Treston Urwin (refereeing in Adelaide). Paul Coory (for personal and business reasons) had tendered his resignation prior to the meeting.

Attendance for the meeting was recorded in the AGM Minutes available from a link below and in the Governance tab on the QB&SA website.

For the first time in a number of years, the QB&SA Inc. has a fully elected committee

President                  John Osterman

Vice President         Chee Yap

Secretary                  Peter Warwick

Treasurer                 David Cooper

Committee 2yrs     Treston Urwin

Committee 1yr       Trevor Mortimer

Committee 1yr       Terry Stewart (Life Member)

For his service to our games both here in Queensland and Northern NSW over many years, Mr Des Turner was elected to Life Membership of the QB&SA.

The Committee thanked the contribution of its appointed people in Patron George Goold, Director of Referees Graham Baker, Bob Turpin Junior Development Officer and his team of John Balderson (Life Member) and Graham Stewart and Des Turner Referees Coordinator.

The Committee also acknowledges the contribution of Ed Dinga as team manager for the Queensland team to the National Junior Challenge event.

The QB&SA is privileged to have such a dedicated group of referees in Queensland and Northern NSW, they do excellent work, give of their time regularly, often travelling long distances to tournaments.

The QB&SA wishes to thank the support of it’s affiliates and the opportunities they provide continuing to support our games by hosting our state senior and junior tournaments as well as their own inhouse and open events. For Snooker, the 2015 calendar had very few available weekends.

To all the families of those volunteering their time for our games and the players and their supporters who continue to enjoy our games, the QB&SA membership says thank you.

In closing I want to commend to all involved with the QB&SA and our games of Billiards and Snooker in Queensland, the great contribution the Clem Jones Group affords us each year. Dr Clem Jones AO took his love of our games in Brisbane to the wider areas of Queensland, to a national presence as the President of the Australian Billiards and Snooker Council and to the International Billiards and Snooker Federation as an Executive Member. Dr Jones’ passion was for our games to be represented in the wider Queensland areas and for the growth of Junior Development. The QB&SA is committed to Dr Jones’ passion and will continue to represent our games in areas where facilities are available. We have a good junior development program in place as the results reflect at the annual national junior challenge tournament.
